Command Staff

Deputy Chief Craig Chandler is second in command of the Sandy Springs Police Department. The Deputy Chief manages the operations and administrative functions of the department.

Deputy Chief Chandler came to the Sandy Springs Police Department from the Kennesaw Police Department, where he held the rank of Lieutenant. He started with the Sandy Springs Police Department in May of 2006. The Department started operations at midnight on July 1, 2006.

Deputy Chief Chandler’s previous assignment was as the Major over Field Operations. Deputy Chief Chandler has held previous assignments that included Administration/Budget, Criminal Investigations, Uniform Patrol and Special Operations. He started the Department’s Quick Response Force unit in June 2011.

Deputy Chief Chandler holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. He has Advanced Law Enforcement and Management Certificates from the Georgia POST Council as well as completing the Chief Executive Training in 2018. He is a proud member of Leadership Sandy Springs Class of 2015, “best class ever”. Deputy Chief Chandler is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Class 17) and the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officer’s Course at the University of Louisville (Class 129).

Investigation and Administration Command

Major Mike Lindstrom currently supervises the Investigation and Administration Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department. He started his police career with the Fulton County Police Department and has been with the Sandy Springs Police Department since its inception in 2006. His previous assignments include Special Operations, Internal Affairs, and Criminal Investigations. Major Lindstrom is a graduate of the Command College at Columbus State College and the FBI National Academy. He is also a member of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club and a graduate of Leadership Sandy Springs – Class of 2016.

Field Operations Command

Major Forrest Bohannon currently supervises the Field Operations Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department.  She was one of the founding officers of the Sandy Springs Police Department, after having previously worked at the Fulton County Police Department. Major Bohannon has served as Night Commander, Administration/Community Affairs Commander, Uniform Patrol, and the Special Operations Division Commander. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego and a Masters in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. Additionally, she is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (Class #399), Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Class 56), and the FBI National Academy (Session 281). Major Bohannon is a graduate of the 2018 Leadership Sandy Springs class.

Support Command

Major Dan Nable oversees the Support Command. Major Nable started his law enforcement career with the Fulton County Police Department in 1988 until he took early retirement in 2006. Major Nable was one of the first officers of the Sandy Springs Police Department. His assignments have included DUI Task Force, Motorcycle Operations, Serious Injury/Fatal crash Investigations, and Criminal Investigations. He has supervised various units to include Sergeant on Patrol and Traffic, and Captain on Patrol, Special Operations and Administration. Major Nable is a certified general instructor. He is also certified as a Firearms Instructor, EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) Instructor, PIT (Pursuit Immobilization Technique) Instructor, and a Defensive Tactics Instructor. He assists with many classes offered to citizens and the Citizen Patrol. As a Sandy Springs native, Major Nable graduated from Riverwood High School and attended Georgia State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. He is also a graduate of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Command College.
