Deputy Chief Craig Chandler is second in command of the Sandy Springs Police Department. The Deputy Chief manages the operations and administrative functions of the department.
Deputy Chief Chandler came to the Sandy Springs Police Department from the Kennesaw Police Department, where he held the rank of Lieutenant. He started with the Sandy Springs Police Department in May of 2006. The Department started operations at midnight on July 1, 2006.
Deputy Chief Chandler’s previous assignment was as the Major over Field Operations. Deputy Chief Chandler has held previous assignments that included Administration/Budget, Criminal Investigations, Uniform Patrol and Special Operations. He started the Department’s Quick Response Force unit in June 2011.
Deputy Chief Chandler holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. He has Advanced Law Enforcement and Management Certificates from the Georgia POST Council as well as completing the Chief Executive Training in 2018. He is a proud member of Leadership Sandy Springs Class of 2015, “best class ever”. Deputy Chief Chandler is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Class 17) and the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officer’s Course at the University of Louisville (Class 129).

Field Operations
Major Benjie Cain currently supervises the Field Operations Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department. Major Cain has been in law enforcement for over 31 years. He is one of the founding officers of the Sandy Springs Police Department. Major Cain’s assignments have included Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, District Commander, and Internal Affairs. Major Cain has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Post University and a Masters in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (class 68), a graduate of Leadership Sandy Springs and a graduate of Northwestern University’s Police Staff & Command. He also attended the 24th Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange (GILEE) delegation trip to Israel in 2016.

Investigations and Support
Major Mike Lindstrom currently supervises Investigation and Support Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department. He started his police career with the Fulton County Police Department and has been with the Sandy Springs Police Department since its inception in 2006. His previous assignments include Special Operations, Internal Affairs, and Criminal Investigations. Major Lindstrom is a graduate of the Command College at Columbus State College and the FBI National Academy. He is also a member of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club and a graduate of Leadership Sandy Springs – Class of 2016.
