The Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) was created in 2006, and serves the community with 147 sworn officers. Operations are coordinated from two districts- North and South. Each district is commanded by district captains and comprised of four patrol beats. The patrol division is complemented by specialty units including Street Crimes Unit (SCU), Traffic Unit, Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and Criminal Investigations Division (CID). The SSPD has several specialty vehicles and equipment including the river response boat, Rhino ATV units, river kayaks, and an armored vehicle for tactical response.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA (August 31, 2021) – The Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) has made an arrest following an investigation of a Sandy Springs resident possessing child sexually abusive material (child pornography) and making obscene and inappropriate sexual contact with a minor over the internet.
