Deputy Chief Craig Chandler is second in command of the Sandy Springs Police Department. The Deputy Chief manages the operations and administrative functions of the department.
Deputy Chief Chandler came to the Sandy Springs Police Department from the Kennesaw Police Department, where he held the rank of Lieutenant. He started with the Sandy Springs Police Department in May of 2006. The Department started operations at midnight on July 1, 2006.
Deputy Chief Chandler’s previous assignment was as the Major over Field Operations. Deputy Chief Chandler has held previous assignments that included Administration/Budget, Criminal Investigations, Uniform Patrol and Special Operations. He started the Department’s Quick Response Force unit in June 2011.
Deputy Chief Chandler holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University. He has Advanced Law Enforcement and Management Certificates from the Georgia POST Council as well as completing the Chief Executive Training in 2018. He is a proud member of Leadership Sandy Springs Class of 2015, “best class ever”. Deputy Chief Chandler is a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Class 17) and the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officer’s Course at the University of Louisville (Class 129).

Field Operations Command
Major Mike Lindstrom currently supervises the Field Operations Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department. He started his police career with the Fulton County Police Department and has been with the Sandy Springs Police Department since its inception in 2006. His previous assignments include Special Operations, Internal Affairs, and Criminal Investigations. Major Lindstrom is a graduate of the Command College at Columbus State College and the FBI National Academy. He is also a member of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club and a graduate of Leadership Sandy Springs – Class of 2016.

Support Command
Major Forrest Bohannon currently leads the Support Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department, where she has served since its inception after beginning her career with the Fulton County Police Department. Over her tenure, she has held leadership roles including Field Operations Commander, Criminal Investigations Division Commander, and Administration/Community Affairs Commander.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of San Diego and a Master’s in Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University. She is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (Class 399), the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College (Class 56), the FBI National Academy (Session 281), the 2018 Leadership Sandy Springs program, and is a member of the GILEE 30th delegation.

Investigation and Administration Command
Major Norm Vik oversees the Investigations and Administration Command for the Sandy Springs Police Department. A U.S. Army veteran and former Military Police Sergeant, Major Vik began his law enforcement career with the City of Hapeville Police Department before joining Sandy Springs in 2007. His assignments have included Uniform/Bike Patrol, SWAT, Field Training, DUI Task Force, Serious Injury/Fatality Investigation, Criminal Investigations, Community Affairs, and Special Operations. Major Vik holds numerous certifications to include General Instructor, Speed Detection and Firearms Instructor. He earned a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officer Course at the University of Louisville. Major Vik is also a graduate of Leadership Sandy Springs class 2020. Major Vik has served as the Commander for Sandy Springs Quick Response Force, North Metro SWAT and Sandy Springs SWAT.
