SANDY SPRINGS, GA (April 29, 2021)This is an update to the fatal-hit-and run from earlier this week where 25 year old Michael Farmer and his dog, Bruce were killed after being struck by a vehicle driven by Dominique Houston who then fled the scene.
The suspect was apprehended later that evening and charged with multiple crimes to include felony vehicular homicide among many others. Our Traffic Investigators continued to investigate the case and through their investigation were able to gather more data and info that has led them to secure additional arrest warrants against the suspect, Dominique Houston. As our Investigators were about to serve these warrants at the Fulton County jail, they learned the suspect had already been released. Our investigators are attempting to locate Ms. Houston and arrest her on the new charges. The new charges include the following:
- Speeding 68 MPH in a 35
- Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices
- Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices
- Failure to Yield to Pedestrian In Crosswalk (as she nearly struck a second pedestrian at another intersection)
- Possession of Schedule 1 Narcotics
- Cruelty to Animals
- Drivers to Use Due Care when Approaching a Pedestrian

SANDY SPRINGS, GA (April 26, 2021) – The Sandy Springs Police Department has made an arrest following an investigation of fatal a hit-and-run incident which resulted in the death of a pedestrian and his dog.
Incident: On Sunday April 25, 2021 before 8 PM, Sandy Springs Police Officers responded to Hammond Drive near Glenridge Drive regarding a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian. Responding Officers arrived and located the 25 year old victim that had been struck while walking his dog on Hammond Drive. The investigation revealed that a white sedan vehicle, traveling eastbound struck the victim and fled the scene. The victim and his dog suffered fatal injuries as a result of this collision.
Sandy Springs Police Traffic Investigators learned that minutes prior to this deadly incident, the same hit-and-run vehicle had been involved in an additional hit-and-run crash with another vehicle while in the area of Roswell Road and I-285. The suspect was fleeing the first incident at a high-rate of speed when it struck the pedestrian and his dog; causing fatal injuries to both.
SSPD Traffic Investigators through their investigation learned the identity of the suspect vehicle, a 2020 white Chevy Malibu with a Florida tag. With the assistance of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle and occupant was located in Newnan, Georgia. SSPD Traffic Investigators responded to Newnan where they brought in the female suspect to be interviewed at SSPD headquarters. Additionally, the Chevy Malibu was also removed from Newnan and taken to SSPD as evidence.
The suspect, identified as 38 year old Dominique Houston of Newnan was interviewed by SSPD Investigators and subsequently arrested and charged with the following:
- Following too closely
- Hit and Run (two counts)
- Vehicular Homicide, 1st Degree
- Reckless Driving
The victim was identified as 25 year old Michael Farmer of Sandy Springs and his dog, a Catahoula named Bruce.
The suspect has been booked into the Fulton County Jail on the above charges and is awaiting prosecution.
