SANDY SPRINGS, GA (February 15, 2021) – The Sandy Springs Police Department with the assistance from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, and the Calhoun Police Department has made an arrest following a murder investigation originated from a triple shooting that resulted in the deaths of two victims on February 11, 2021.
On February 11, 2021 just before 2:00 AM, several individuals gathered within an apartment at 789 Hammond Drive, The Eva Apartments. During the encounter, one or more suspects produced at least one firearm and shot at the three victims. Two of the victims received fatal injuries as a result of the gunshot wounds while the third victim was transported to a local hospital where he continues to receive medical treatment for his injuries. Sandy Springs Police Detectives have worked around the clock since called to the scene to identity the individuals involved. Pursuant to this investigation, Jesus Alvarez de La Rosa has been identified as a suspect involved in the shooting and warrants were issued for his arrest.
On February 15, 2021, 25 year old Jesus Alvarez de la Rosa from Atlanta was located at a residence in Calhoun, GA and subsequently arrested by Sandy Springs Police Detectives with the assistance from local agencies and the Georgia State Patrol. The suspect has been charged by Sandy Springs Police Detectives with the following charges:
· Home Invasion
· Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
· Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
o Other charges are forthcoming
The two deceased victims have been identified as 20 year old Ariel Collazo from Norcross and 19 year old Jerry Salazar from Sandy Springs. The identity of the third victim (surviving) is being withheld at this time and his injuries have been considered to be non-life-threatening.
Jesus Alvarez de la Rosa has been turned over to the Fulton County Jail on the above charges and is awaiting prosecution.
