We are getting ready to start the next Citizens Police Academy (CPA), class # 34 on March 1st and we are now accepting applications.
Many people often ask how the SSPD trains for certain situations or what our policies are regarding a particular topic. The CPA is one of the best community-police programs that allows our citizens an opportunity to get to know their police department up close and learn our policies, our training, and our philosophy. Additionally, the CPA is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that face law enforcement efforts in Sandy Springs.
The Citizens Police Academy is a free program that allows residents to participate in an up-close study of police operations in Sandy Springs. The 9-week course is designed to give participants the opportunity to get to know the people, understand the training, and offer insights and familiarity to the professionals who hit the streets and protect us every day in Sandy Springs. Applicants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis and a soft background check will be conducted.
The CPA meets every Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:30PM for 9 weeks. The following are some of the topics covered during the program:
