UPDATE
SANDY SPRINGS, GA (January 27, 2021) – The Sandy Springs Police Department has made a second arrest following the homicide investigation of a 2 year old child killed on December 9, 2020. Pursuant to this investigation, Sandy Springs Police Detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of babysitter Kirstie Flood’s boyfriend, 28 year old Jeffrey Scott Meyers of Sandy Springs.
Sandy Springs Police Detectives have taken Meyers into custody on the following arrest warrants:
• Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree
• Murder in the Second Degree
The suspect has been turned over to the Fulton County Jail on the above charges. This investigation is still ongoing and any further media inquiries on this arrest should be made directly to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, Media Relations Unit.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA (December 15, 2020) – The Sandy Springs Police Department has made an arrest following a homicide investigation of a 2 year old child killed by her babysitter.
Incident:
On December 9, 2020, the Sandy Springs Police Department launched an investigation after a medical call was received regarding an unresponsive child inside an apartment on Monterey Parkway in Sandy Springs. First responders rushed the child to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) where she was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Detectives learned the child had been entrusted into the care of the suspect, 29 year old Kirstie Flood. Further, an autopsy performed on the child revealed she suffered severe injuries that resulted in her death during her care by the suspect.
The suspect, Kirstie Flood has been taken into custody and has been charged with the following:
• Felony Murder (2 counts)
• Malice Murder (1 count)
• Aggravated Battery (1 count)
• Cruelty to Children, 1st Degree (1 count)
Due to the victim’s age, the Sandy Springs Police Department will not release her identity.
